Week 09 - Art Style Guides (Understanding Story)

Contributions include:

- Story development

- Power Point development

These went through a few iterations, first as a collage, then as a deep cursive text, then finally reverting to a more legible font. Using Photoshop, I desaturated images and masked them to give them an old, flashback look.

Walk Cycle

Each week for 3 weeks, I made and tweaked a walk cycle. Separating the cycle into its 4 phases (contact, down, pass, and up) definitely made this process easier. Then it was a matter of secondary movements and adjustments to get it to look natural.

Module 2 Week 07 Homework (Advanced)

Using Substance Painter, my task this week was to texture the catapult and apply it to the low res model in the Unreal Engine. Smart Materials definitely helped give and easy base material to work with. Then tweaking it became natural and easy going. I'm really happy about how this turned out.

Week 06 - Use of Perspective

This time around, I created a 3D scene with the theme of "transportation" and a perspective in mind. I decided to use a train using 1 point perspective. Below is the final product, the 3D scene, and a PureRef board. It was fascinating being able to use a Maya 3D scene and turn it into a 2D environment using Photoshop. Also, rendering out Maya's id, Z,  and ambient occlusion maps were greatly helpful for adding colors, shadows and a fog effect.

Module 2 Week 06 Homework (Advanced)

As a continuation of last week, I used Z brush to upscale, sculpt, and decimate the Low poly catapult. The process went smoothly, but did take a while. I'm happy with how it turned out.
